ORIANA Receives Award from the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors In May 2008 the choir was awarded Outstanding Choral Event 2006-2008 by the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors for its programme CHILDREN’S VOICES TOO! TD Canada Trust Music sponsors ORIANA
ORIANA has acquired a podium/training sponsor for the 2008/09 season. This sponsorship will help the Choir with artistic direction costs and additional music training for the Choir. Our thanks to TD Canada Trust for this support. New Music Season ORIANA’s subscription season begins on November 15, 2008 with concerts on March 7, 2009 and May 9, 2009. ORIANA on the Road On Saturday, December 6, 2008 ORIANA will perform as guest artists with Barrie Concerts and Georgian Music program. The choir will reprise some favourites from its CDs—Comfort and Joy and Cinnamon and Cedar as well as presenting some music from its Carols of the Continents concert on November 15, 2008 in Toronto. ORIANA launches its 5th CD, Be Thou My Vision In November 2008, ORIANA will launch its 5th CD, Be Thou My Vision, a compilation of favourite hymns and songs of faith. It includes six new arrangements commissioned by the Choir from some of Canada’s most renowned composers, Ruth Watson Henderson, Eleanor Daley, Derek Holman, John Beckwith, Leonard Enns, and Jon Washburn. Copies of the CD will be available by phoning 416-236-0948. The new CD is made possible by a grant from Dorothy A. Caldwell and the Caldwell Foundation. ORIANA Fund-raising projects begin again for the season This Fall, the Choir will again be offering delicious MacMillan's ready-baked and ready-to-bake goodies to families, friends and those who support us. Whether you prefer pizzas or peanut butter cookies, gingerbread or garlic, samosas or shortbread, we will have something to suit your taste. Send an email to info@orianachoir.com.
